Apple's just solved one of the major problems with the App Store. You now have to have actually used an application to post a review of it. Okay, maybe not used, but at least taken the time to either buy or download it. Before this change, anyone could post a review of an application, whether they've used it or not. That meant you couldn't trust what you were reading, making the whole point of having a user-review system moot.

As a result of the modification, the user-review process should now be fairer to both consumers and developers.

Developers, which rely on the world-of-mouth effect of user-reviews, can now be fairly certain that their software's been given a fair shake before a review's posted. While consumers can, for the first time, trust that their getting legitimate feedback when making their purchase and download decisions.
