During Macworld in San Francisco last January, where Google rolled out a special new interface just for the iPhone, a number of folks approached the search giant to ask when a localized version of this new interface would be available in their home country. Well, it's taken a few months, but that time has now arrived.

According to the Google's Mobile Blog, the search giant's just extended its iPhone and iPod touch interface to 33 new markets and 16 additional languages, ranging from Argentina to New Zealand and Swedish to Chinese.

Google's iPhone interface provides the following:

  •  Fast and fluid search with one-tap access to News, image, local, or web results and search query suggestions when you start typing
  •  Automatic delivery of Gmail messages (no need to refresh your browser!), and auto-completion of email addresses when typing
  •  A combined month-and-current-day view of your always-in-sync Google Calendar, and the ability to share pictures with friends and family using Picasa Web Albums
  • In related news, Google's also launched a version of Google news just for the iPhone. It allows you to Browse the front page or search for results straight from the home page, while delivering access to the full catalog of Google News sources and associated YouTube content.

To acccess the the new Google interface, point your iPhone or iPod touches Safari browser to the Google homepage.
