Emailing "Recompute: The Cardboard PC"
The Greener Gadgets competition this year is generating some interesting computer related entries. There was the
coffee grinds printer a couple of days ago, and today comes word of Recompute, a carboard-encased PC.
Fire hazard, much? That's the first thing that comes to mind (at least among the half-empty set). But designer, Brenden Macaluso, points out that cardboard has a much higher ignition point than plastic. But not metal, which leads us to the sustainable part...
Since it's cardboard, recycling the case is a trivial matter, and unlike molding plastic and bending metal into a computer case, fewer resources, energy, chemicals and labor go into its construction. Plus it's corrugated nature allows for tons of airflow.
Neat!
